About this policy
This policy describes information handled through the Chicago Area Project (CAP) public website. Program registration, participant records, employment systems and independently operated affiliate websites may have separate notices. Contact CAP with questions about a particular program or record.
Information you provide
When you send an inquiry, the website collects your name, email address, selected topic and message, along with any phone number or organization you provide. An inquiry opened from a community page may also include that community so CAP can understand your request.
When you subscribe to the newsletter, the website records your email address, subscription status, signup source and subscription dates. Please do not include Social Security numbers, payment details, medical information or confidential participant records in general website forms.
How information is used
Contact-form information is sent to CAP’s main office to respond to your inquiry, with a confirmation sent to your email address. Newsletter information is used to manage your subscription and send CAP updates.
The forms also use submission timing and an empty spam-detection field to help reject automated submissions. The hosting service may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages and error logs to deliver the website and protect it from abuse. The newsletter handler uses IP addresses to limit repeated submissions.
Service providers and other websites
Website hosting, email delivery and database providers process information needed to operate these features. Donations are handled on PayPal’s website; this website does not collect your payment-card details. Review PayPal’s privacy notice before donating.
Links and embedded resources may take you to services such as community resource boards, social media and affiliate websites. Those services have their own privacy practices and may receive technical information when their content loads or you visit them.
Your choices and requests
You can browse public information without submitting a form. To stop newsletter emails, request removal through CAP’s main office using the contact details below. You can also ask about information you submitted, request a correction or request deletion. Please identify the email address used and the type of request, without sending sensitive identification documents.
CAP can explain what information is available and whether any records need to be retained for program, administrative or legal purposes. This notice does not specify a fixed retention period for all records. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Young people and families
Young people and families can use this website to learn about community resources. Children under 13 should ask a parent or guardian to contact CAP rather than submitting personal information through general website forms. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact CAP so the matter can be reviewed.
Questions and updates
For privacy questions or requests, contact CAP and include “Website privacy” in your email subject. Changes to this notice will appear on this page with an updated date.
